Dear friends and colleagues,
This is an appeal for us all to pray earnestly for each other, for our work and our teams in the field. In many parts of the world, the COVID situation is not getting any better and speculation is rife that we will have to live with the disease for the foreseeable future. One of our friends from Asia reports, “Things here are not good at all. Everyday someone we know is dying”. Many of our translators have contracted COVID-19, amongst them are one of our national coordinators [name withheld] , his wife and mother. PJ (Chairman of TWFTW EMT & IB) and his wife, Sanette, have COVID-19 and PJ is currently in hospital.
The situation in Myanmar is not looking good, and is in fact getting worse, some of our teams are in danger and there is a huge problem in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, just to mention a few trouble spots which could affect our work.
In spite of this, we need to understand that God is in control and not a hair on our heads will be lost if it is not His will. We need to find refuge in the Word of God and believe God when he says, “Whoever goes to the Lord for safety… He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases…” Psalm 91. We need to spend more time in the Word and more time with God, drawing closer to God, so that when the enemy comes in like a flood our lives will not fall apart.
I believe that as uncertain and troubling times continue and increase, we will continue to experience an increasing measure of God’s grace and power to fulfil His purposes in this world, but we need to draw closer to God and listen to His voice and obey. This is not the time to give in to fear and worries about our future, as our futures are secure in Him. The world is in a panic and they are getting more confused by the day, but our lives should show that we are at peace – the peace that transcends all understanding.
A few thoughts from Colossians to think about:
We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will, with all the wisdom and understanding that His Spirit gives. Then you will be able to live as the Lord wants and will always do what pleases him Col 1: 9-10.
Let me tell you how hard I have worked for you… I do this in order that they may be filled with courage and may be drawn together in love… Col 2:1-2.
Keep your roots deep in Him, build your lives on Him, and become stronger in your faith,… and be filled with thanksgiving Col 2:7.
You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on things that are in heaven… Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth Col 3: 1-2.
The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make; for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body Col 3:15.
Be encouraged to be faithful in your service to the Lord and to continue to pray for one another, holding each other up before His throne of grace and let’s trust the Lord that He will continue to look after us and our families and that the work He has entrusted us with will continue until its completion.
Please share this message to anybody you know would appreciate it.
God bless,
Kobus
